     You already know that the world's most famous paintings (especially old) are generally held at the museums for viewing by Patrons. Sometimes, the museums will rarely sell them, and as such, they are quite literally priceless.


     
      Mona Lisa listed as the highest insurance valued painting in History. On December 14,1962, the Mona Lisa was assessed at US$100 million and it is permanently displayed at The Louvre Museum in Paris.Taking inflation into account, the 1962 value would be around US$782 million in 2016.

      In 1953, Abstract Expressionist Painter Willem De Kooning painted the expensive portrait of Woman III and it is considered as the one of the six paintings of Willem De Kooning between 1951 and 1953. The measurings of portrait are 68 by 48 1/2 inches(1.73 by 1.23m).

     The American Painter, Jackson Pollock Painted the No. 5, 1948 ,known for his contributions to the abstract expressionist movement. 
     This expensive painting was painted on the fibreboard(also known as composition board), which is measured 8' x 4'. Pollock chose to paint this portrait by using liquid paints.

        The Spanish Cubist Artist, Pablo Picasso painted Les Femmes d'Alger (Women of Algiers), which is a series of 15 paintings.  Eugène Delacroix's 1834 painting was inspired by this series of paintings.The series is one of several painted by Picasso in tribute to artists that he admired.

     The Pendant portraits of Maerten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit are a pair of full-length wedding portraits by Rembrandt. And this expensive painting was formerly owned by the Rothschild family, they became jointly owned by the Louvre Museum and the Rijksmuseum in 2015 after both museums managed to contribute half of the purchase price of €160 million, a record for works by Rembrandt. It is the one of the expensive paintings ever sold.

     When Will You Marry? (Tahitian: Nafea faa ipoipo) is an oil painting from 1892 by the French Post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin. On loan to the Kunstmuseum in Basel, Switzerland for nearly a half-century. In February 2015, it was sold privately by the family of Rudolf Staechelin to Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani.
